Black Friday at DillySocks

Black Friday bei DillySocks - DillySocks

Let's face it: even as a sustainable fashion company, there's no escaping Black Friday. Time to use the day for more conscious consumption and social commitment!

For us, Black Week isn't just a time of consumption, but also of giving. That's why we'll be donating 5% of our Black Week revenue from 25 November to 2 December in the form of socks to children's hospitals and children's homes in Switzerland. True to the motto: you buy, we donate. Find out more below.

Black Friday: total consumption overload?!

For many people, Black Friday means bargains, discounts and a real shopping frenzy. Yet it's no secret that the year's biggest sales day deserves a critical look from a sustainability perspective:

  1. Overconsumption: Black Friday encourages people to buy more than they actually need. This leads to wasted materials and, ultimately, more waste.
  2. Wasted resources: manufacturing and shipping Black Friday products creates a significant carbon footprint and contributes to the overuse of (natural) resources.

Black Friday: sustainable, conscious consumption despite discounts?

At DillySocks, we realised it was time to add a sustainable component to Cyber Week. That's why we created Fair Friday, a day of conscious consumption.

    1. Sustainable products: instead of offering mass-produced goods, we at DillySocks focus on high-quality, sustainable products. Our socks are made from organic cotton and produced under fair working conditions in Portugal and Turkey.
    2. Social commitment: for us, Black Week isn't just a time of consumption, but also of giving. That's why we'll be donating 5% of our Black Week revenue from 25 November to 2 December in the form of socks to children's hospitals and children's homes in Switzerland. True to the motto: you buy, we donate.
    3. Conscious consumption: with the DillySocks Black Friday, we encourage people to make conscious buying decisions. Instead of being lured purely by bargains, we'd like to urge our customers to choose products that match their needs and values.

Black Friday: sustainable business is possible!

That being said, we still believe that sustainable shopping is possible even with Black Friday discounts. After all, we offer our products at reduced prices on Black Friday too – and for good reasons.

    1. We want to stay competitive. Even as a sustainable company, we can't completely withdraw from the prevailing market. And, like it or not, the market craves discounts. Time and again, we see that strikethrough prices have an almost magical pull on customers. Denying ourselves this sales potential entirely would shrink our revenue and our reach. And we need revenue to operate on the market sustainably – and in the long term.
    2. We want to give slow sellers more attention. Discounts give us the chance to push products. This gives them the attention they've been missing until now – attention that, in our opinion, they very much deserve. And it makes room for new designs.

At DillySocks, we believe it's time to bring about change. Our Black Friday stands for sustainable consumption, social responsibility and conscious decisions. We invite you to join us and stand up for sustainable consumption together with us. Together, we can turn Black Friday into a day of positive change in consumption.
