A quick overview
You probably know that our socks are as sustainable as possible. But we also do our best to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible when packaging our DillySocks. Read more about our journey to sustainable product packaging here!
No plastic, please! Our plastic-free packaging
From the beginning, we were concerned about the huge amounts of plastic used in conventional packaging methods. We declared war on this problem and decided to do away with unnecessary packaging layers and plastic in general wherever possible.
We also started looking for environmentally friendly packaging options and came across the material PLA (polylactic acid). This is a plastic-like material that is made from renewable and natural raw materials. It is therefore purely organic and compostable. We currently use PLA when we absolutely cannot do without a protective layer in the packaging.
Our compostable hooks
But that wasn't enough, because the quality of the trailers also bothered us. Up until now, they were made of conventional plastic. So we teamed up with the innovative minds at FluidSolids . FluidSolids is a Zurich-based company that is a leader in the development of customized biocomposites that do not compete with food production.
Together we developed a trailer made from industrial waste from renewable raw materials, such as nut shells, wood fibers, corn cobs, cardboard, hemp fibers or paper. Because it is industrial waste, the trailers do not require a single additional square meter of agricultural land. And it is compostable - win win!
Our packaging around it
We send our colorful DillySocks in equally colorful packaging boxes. Have you ever noticed that there are different design variants? Our design team has outdone themselves again! The box itself is certified with the FSC Mix label. This means that materials from FSC-certified forests and/or recycled material as well as material from controlled sources were used in production.
The box is specially designed so that you can easily close it again after opening it. It is best to reuse it for a colorful package. If you can no longer use the box, please recycle it correctly in the cardboard disposal system.
Our labels
And last but not least, our labels are made of recycled paper and are attached to the sock with a tie thread that you can easily open with a clever pull.
Our packaging is 100% organic and contains no plastic.
Even though packaging is rarely discussed and the focus is usually on the product, in our case the socks, it is an integral part of a sustainable company. We are proud of how far we have come in this area. But our journey is far from over - we continue to work on becoming more and more sustainable!
